Living in Kenya
November, 2025

It's been five months since I moved to Nairobi. Here are some of my favorite things from the country so far!
Nairobi National Park. It's amazing what you can see just outside a city of 5 million people.

The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust has a highly successful elephant rescue program. Its current occupants include fourteen elephants, all of whom were orphaned under a variety of circumstances. The center does an excellent job rehabilitating them and eventually releasing them back into the wild.
These “babies” drink around 24 litres of milk a day. Since milking an adult wild elephant isn’t exactly easy, the caretakers use cow’s milk instead.
Because elephants are very social creatures—and these in particular are traumatized by the loss of their mothers—each one has a minder who sleeps with them at night to ensure they are never alone. Dream job!
